General Notes | Undulating abyssal hills, about 200 fathoms relief. Apparent 0-5 fathom thick soft-relecting layer over hard reflecting layers. About 90% black, round manganese nodules, 0.5-5cm in diameter. Rest of sample sub-round to sub-angular rocks; 0.5-12cm diameter. Mostly nodular in appearance due to Mn growths. None with fresh surfaces; no apparent striations. Rock types: basalt, basaltic lava, rhyolite, plus a number of acid-intermediate igneous varieties; slate, schist, biotite gneiss. | ||||||||||||||||
